Come along with Brian, our fifteen-year-old daughter, and me on an unforgettable three-day, 28-mile backpacking adventure through Zion National Park in June, 2019. Our journey begins with a flight from St. Louis to Las Vegas and takes us through the spectacular landscapes of Wildcat Canyon and the West Rim Trail before bringing us full circle on our drive back to the airport.

This was only our second backpacking trip, but our daughter’s very first. Together, we hiked along the rim of the canyon, through long grasses swaying in the wind and quiet alpine forests. We camped beneath the trees and out in open meadows under an incredible canopy of stars. I woke up at 2:00am to capture the galactic core of our Milky Way stretching across the darkness above us.

There is something truly unforgettable about spending three days deep in the wilderness, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and seeing almost no one else along the way.
